new favorite easy delicious thing to make with all the fresh organic vegetables I get in my CSA delivery box:

I chopped up some napa cabbage, leeks, and broccoli (on a second try I replaced leeks with rainbow chard, which I sort of preferred). Put them in giant weird foil thing I had.

Toss with fresh garlic, olive oil, and salt. Leave in oven at 350 degrees.

As my dad says about the one dish he knows how to cook, It’s ready when you’re hungry.

Veggies should be warm and kinda wilty around edges.

While they’re in the oven, I make a white wine, dijon mustard vinaigrette. Then add chopped fennel fronds and chopped kalamata olives cause this party’s about to turn mediterranean.

Add the warm veggies to the dressing, toss, and then be impressed with yourself. At least that’s how I do it.

Yesterday I got my third organic produce delivery from Farm Fresh To You. I upgraded from the small to the regular box so I would have more to experiment with in the three weeks between each delivery.

Tons of huge, tall greens:

Included broccoli, broccoli rabe, cabbage, leeks, romaine lettuce, fennel, and rainbow chard.

Pears, apples, and oranges, too.

Made a really simple green salad with just romaine and avocado. The dressing included white wine vinegar, grape seed oil, salt, pepper, and mustard.

I also made a stirfry with red onions, broccoli rabe, and leeks but I ruined it by getting carried away with garlic, shallots, soy veggie crumbles. Sounds like a recipe for loneliness. Cause it is.

CSA organic produce delivery #2 came through today, full of a bunch of useable stuff like carrots, apples, pears, tomatoes, and plums. Then there was baby bok choy, which I’ve never cooked before. Asian friends–help! Just kidding. I just thought that would be funny to say since I only have Asian friends. Just kidding again. Kind of.

Some of you know I’m Korean on the inside–Nancy, I command you find the picture of us in traditional silk robes STAT! No? Fine, then I’ll find my own copy. Which I definitely have somewhere.

Ok here’s what came in the box:

Starkrimson pears (1.5 lbs)
Elephant Heart Plums (1.5 lbs) (p.s. don’t worry I won’t eat these till after Vegetarian Awareness Month)
Jonathan Apples (1.5 lbs)
Baby Bok Choy (1.5 lbs)
Slicing Tomatoes (1.5 lbs)
Sweet Peppers (0.5 lbs)
Carrots (1.5 lbs)
Jewel Yams (1.5 lbs) (despite my request for no tubers. don’t let it happen again, farm fresh. seriously. wait, yams ARE tubers, right?)

Don’t the peppers and plums look like they’re all like, “no glove no love” and the carrots are all like “no way, that’s not my style.” They do, right?!

Ok seriously, what should I make? Boss me around!

You know what the package came with that I didn’t order? A note taped to my door from a certain front desk worker who thought the note in my mailbox wasn’t sufficient enough!

Awww….that’s sweet. Kinda like the times when I find you lurking on my fire escape.
